Issue 35 - June July 2013

Winter is upon us now and the tahr and chamois are rutting.

We’re in the middle of ducks, and the Rusa and Sambar roar is just round the corner. The Sika are out in the open and there’s no one out there to have to share them with, so don’t let a little bit of colder weather keep you at home!

The Pimp Your Ute series has had a hiccup, and we going to start again with PYU number 2.

You can read all about it this issue!

  • First up we have how to evaluate tahr and chamois trophy on the hoof by Tyron, Marcus and I
  • Tim and Jon’s West Coast trip
  • Brent’s big 44 inch stag!
  • A Wakatipu Fallow buck
  • Matt talks snapping moving subjects
  • Travis and Amanda’s Canadian Wilderness O.E.
  • Bush Stalking Part 3
  • Team “No Nuts “wins
  • The great migratory deer trail!
  • We have the final of Johnny’s deer dogs
  • Josh’s first duck and deer
  • Student Hunters chase tahr
  • The BRB makes a haggis!
  • Fiordland wanderings and Wapiti musings
  • Greig goes lightweight
  • PYU gets a lift, and comes to an untimely end!
  • Teresa teaches your dog to remember
  • Collared Sika, the deer are in the open!
  • Mallard Mayhem!

Prize Winners

There are some awesome photos and videos going up on the website now. Some of you must have been paying attention to what Matt Winter’s been saying after all!

We’ve given up on the software gurus coming up with a suitable system to choose those with the most votes for each issue. Each new “expert” mucked us around then let us down. Now the sponsors Tight Lines are going to choose the ones they like best. This issue the winners are Scott Tulloch and Nigel Birt, and we’ll contact you about your LED Lenser prizes shortly.

Thanks Tight Lines!

Last issue’s Spot the Logo winners were Peter McLeod and Brent Waghorn. The logos were in the Leupold ad on page 35, and the Advanced Archery ad on page 82.

Well now that we’ve got a new ute again at last, I’m off hunting again to make up for lost time. Nothing happens quickly with insurance companies these days and I’ve been getting serious “cabin fever”. We’ve a few trips planned in the next month, so you may just see us in the hills!
